Signs God Is Answering My Prayers

There are very many signs God gives us to let us know He is answering our prayers. Let's learn “signs God is answering my prayers”, in this article.
Signs God Is Answering My Prayers

It is one thing to pray, and it is another to receive answers to the prayers that we pray. Many Christians today are stuck in the second stage. Since many out there are eager to know the right ways to verify that God is answering their prayers, in today's teaching, we will learn “Signs God is answering my prayers.”

First of all, I'll like to remind us that God still answers prayers. Some of us are fond of complaining that it's either God isn't listening or He doesn't care enough to answer our prayers. Thinking that God isn't hearing prayers anymore is same as saying God no longer exists.

I hope it isn't as bad as this; as bad as doubting the existence of a prayer-answering God. Because the true God lives and doesn't stop answering prayers. He still provides answers to prayers day and night.

Daniel 10:12 ESV
Then he said, “Don’t be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come in answer to your prayer.

I'll like to quickly take us back to one of the catchy stories of Daniel

The Bible tells us that when Daniel decided to embark on fasting and prayers (in Daniel 9:3), for a whole 21 days, the answers he was seeking did not come. There was not even a sign that God was listening or hearing his prayers. But Daniel did not relent, he didn't feel discouraged or give up on praying.

Try to imagine yourself fasting and praying daily; the first day, the second day, and then the third, till the 21st day without receiving any form of feedback from God. If some of us were in Daniel's shoes, I'm sure we would have long given up. We would have started having doubts, but Daniel persisted.

We can then begin to wonder what kept Daniel going in such a situation. Apparently, he had his own secret—which we'll have to trust the Holy Spirit to unravel to us as we progress in this teaching.

Matthew 7:9-10 ESV
Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent?

God is good and His will for us is good. He is always there to ensure we have the very best of things we need in this present life. If we know how to give good gifts to our children, then how much more our Heavenly Father who owns everything? He is ever willing to answer and grant our requests when we call upon Him.

How do you know when God is answering prayers? God always answers prayers. If the answers to our prayers are not coming within our specified time frame or according to our expectations, there are obviously some reasons why it is so.

One of those reasons is that we may be attempting to dictate for God when and how He should answer our prayers. Another reason could be that we haven't met the scriptural requirements for getting our prayers answered.

How Can God Answer My Prayers Quickly

God does nothing in haste; He only does them at the right time—according to His own specifications. God knows when a particular prayer point needs to be answered within a short period of time, and when certain prayer points need to be answered at a later time.

The fact that answers to certain prayers come quicker than others still doesn't prove that God operates in hastiness. If we all understood this simple principle of prayer, then it would become easier to receive answers to our prayers

Recommended:

As I earlier stated, God knows when to provide instant answers to our prayers (with immediate physical manifestation of the same). He also knows when to make us wait.

For instance, in the face of a life-threatening crisis, if called upon, God may step in immediately to give protection and deliverance.

Apart from such a scenario as the above mentioned, we are expected to pray, trust God and wait. There is no genuine guide to manipulating God to answer our prayers quickly, simply because we're being impatient.

How To Know If God Answers Your Prayers

When we have received answers to our prayers, there will definitely be clear signs; an inner knowing that our prayers have been answered (plus the physical manifestations of the answers to our prayers). Simply put, God will let us know.

Isaiah 43:19 ESV
Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

When the answers to Daniel's prayers were given, the Angel of the Lord was sent to notify Daniel concerning the answers to his prayers. Apart from this, for those of us who can hear God directly and clearly, He will always let us know that our prayers have been answered.

Acts 10:30-31 NIV
Cornelius answered: “Three days ago I was in my house praying at this hour, at three in the afternoon. Suddenly a man in shining clothes stood before me and said, ‘Cornelius, God has heard your prayer and remembered your gifts to the poor.

It is also true that God may not always send an Angel or speak to us directly, letting us know that our prayers are answered. But He does leaves clues all around us!

If you applied for a job online and a few weeks later, you received a job appointment email from the company you applied for a job with, wouldn't you know the email response came from them? Of course you would know!

Just in the same manner, if we asked God for a thing in prayer and He later gave us what we asked, that alone is a valid proof that our prayer has been answered.

How To Be Sure God Listens To Your Prayers

If we pray with uncertainty in our hearts—on whether God is listening and hearing our prayers or not, then we are praying without faith.

James 1:6-7 NIV
But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.

The uncertainty in our minds on whether God is listening or not listening to our prayers can as well be tied to our unrighteousness.

If we have doubts concerning God listening to our prayers, first of all, we need to do self-introspection—just to be sure we have been living right.

Because every form of rebellion towards God has the ability to hinder our prayers, it is recommended we get right with God first, before presenting to Him a long list of what we want Him to do for us.

Recommend:

Ofttimes, the desire to know and “be sure” God is listening to our prayers, stems out of faithlessness. Our Lord Jesus Christ told us in Matthew 21:22 that whatever we ask in prayer we will receive, if we have faith.

The major condition attached to receiving answers to our prayers from God throughout scriptures is faith.

1 John 5:15 ESV
And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.

If you are praying to God, it is believed that you already know (and have settled it in your heart) that God is listening and hearing your prayers. If you are struggling with this as a Christian, then you have serious work to do on your belief system.

Signs That God Is Answering Your Prayers

It's in human nature to seek for physical signs, especially when it comes to spiritual things and the things of God. But this is often due to inadequate faith or lack thereof.

Matthew 12:39 ESV
But he answered them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.”

More than a couple of times in scriptures, the Lord shows His displeasure towards the act of asking for signs when it comes to believing God. At least we saw this manifest in His conversation with Thomas, as follows:

John 20:27 NIV
Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”

But our generation loves seeking for signs when it comes to their dealings with God. This is often because many find it difficult to trust God.

I understand that most of us have been betrayed, disappointed and let down by humans. It becomes even more difficult to trust anyone as the days go by. But let's be reminded that God is not a man.

Numbers 23:19 ESV
God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?

There are certain people who don't need a sign from God, because through experience, they have known God to be faithful. They know that He will answer their prayer and they don't have a problem waiting for it to come. So they don't bother asking for a sign.

There is also another group of Christians whose faith isn't that strong. They always need a sign. For everyone who needs physical signs to support their faith, God understands. Pay attention because He will give you a sign.

Final Thoughts On Signs Of Answered Prayer

Desperation towards God often stems out of unbelief and meager faith. When it comes to God and prayers, a man of faith is a man of patience.

Whenever God spots real faith demonstrated in praying and in waiting, He is always moved to answer prayers faster than we expect.

To me, I believe it is better to acquire much faith and apply the same in our dealings with God, instead of constantly showing God how much we don't trust Him.
