Dreams about preaching are always a good omen. I honestly see no possibility of the enemy showing anyone a dream about preaching the word of God. But if that even happens, it should be on very rare occasions. Most preaching dreams always come from God—and they are always pleasant to see.
Preaching in dream means what? Some often end up thinking that when they see theirself preaching in a dream, it automatically means they should pick up their Bible, get on the pulpit and start preaching. Although most preaching dreams point to the possibility of the dreamer becoming God's mouthpiece, in most cases, such a dream is purposed to manifest at a future date.
Meaning Of Preaching In The Dream
Sharing the Word of God is one of the responsibilities and functions of every genuine Christian. Just like it is impossible to be in love with someone and not talk about them, it is not possible to love God and not talk about Him.
Preaching the word of God is literally about preaching Jesus. I believe that every Christian should tell someone about Jesus Christ— wherever and whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Jesus commanded us to preach the Word. The Great Commission is an assignment for everyone who believes in the Name of Jesus Christ. The job description encapsulated in the Great Commission is simply preaching. Heaven expects every child of God to make use of every available platform on earth to propagate the Gospel—including the internet!
The following are the possible symbolism of every preaching dream you may see:
- A bidding on the dreamer to start speaking about God.
- There is an obsession to preach the Gospel.
- A manifestion of a genuine desire to preach the Word.
- You have a calling from God to be a preacher.
- God is sending you out to preach and save souls.
While some preaching dreams could be an instruction from God to the dreamer—that must be carried out as soon as possible—some might be a vision that is purposed to manifest in future.
If you saw yourself preaching in a dream, it is important to inquire from the Lord, in order to know which of the above symbols apply to your dream. Ask the Lord for more clarification on what He wants you to do and when He wants it done, so that you don't end up acting outside His instructions and leading.
Preaching Dream Interpretation
As earlier stated, every Christian is called and commissioned to talk about God through every available means. This is a primary assignment given to all saved people. But there are stages and classes of preaching. We cannot compare telling a co-worker about Jesus to ministering to thousands and millions of people at the same time.
There is a primary assignment on every Christian to preach, and there is a special assignment and calling (with unique prescriptions and instructions) given to certain individuals to preach. This is where applying wisdom is necessary.
For instance, a calling to a prophetic ministry if seen in a dream, is not supposed to manifest immediately. Lots of preparation, processes and equipping has to take place, before the dreamer can get to where God wants them to be.
1. A Calling From God To Be A Preacher
If you are called to a particular ministry in the Body of Christ, the Lord will let you know. One of the ways He will confirm that calling to you is through dreams (and that will often include dreams about preaching).
Having a unique calling and assignment from God, to preach to thousands of people people isn't something anyone can just wake up and start doing. Every unique calling and ministry from God will require thorough preparation and equipping. God doesn't call the qualified, but He makes sure He equips and qualifies the called, before sending them out.
Therefore, some visions are for an appointed time; a future date. Some dreams like seeing oneself preaching and casting out demons, will likely be a vision for an appointed time.
Habakkuk 2:2-3 NIVThen the LORD replied: “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.
In this case, God decides to show dreams of preaching to the dreamer, so as to imprint it in their spirit. This becomes like a fire that fuels their passion to work towards becoming and doing what they've been seeing in their dreams.
2. A Bidding To Start Speaking About God
If you are a Christian who haven't been telling anyone about Jesus Christ—neither online nor offline; a dream about seeing yourself preaching may simply be an instruction from God, asking you to start doing just that.
3. An Obsession To Preach The Gospel
As much as God wants us to preach the word, He never said everyone or just anyone should do it. We must understand that preaching the Word is not for everyone. It was the disciples that Jesus commissioned to propagate the Gospel, not hirelings. Not the Pharisees and Scribes.
In our society today, there are many who aren't even saved, yet they daydream about preaching the Gospel, becoming famous and making money. There are many unsaved preachers of the Gospel, doing it for the wrong reasons. That is misdirected zeal.
Romans 10:2 NLTI know what enthusiasm they have for God, but it is misdirected zeal.
Unfortunately, most of these people grow up to fulfil their ambition of purportedly serving God, by opening a 'church', deceiving people and extorting money from them.
Not all preaching dreams come from God. If you know that you are not saved and filled with the Holy Spirit; you know that you don't have God's calling upon your life, there is no need to daydream about preaching. Because within such an obsession, the devil always finds a foothold.
When it comes to ministry, motives matter a lot. God knows our hearts. There are many people out there who see ministry as a money-making venture. They spend their day planning and scheming on how to open a church, have members, make money and live a luxurious life.
Philippians 1:15 NLTIt’s true that some are preaching out of jealousy and rivalry. But others preach about Christ with pure motives.
Whatever anyone fixes their mind on during the day is likely to manifest as a dream when they sleep. Seeing yourself preaching in a dream—due to the fact that you have been daydreaming that with the wrong motives at heart—simply isn't a dream from God. It is also not a confirmation that God has called you to start preaching.
If anyone is obsessed about seeing themselves preaching the Gospel, let them be sure that their obsession is backed by a genuine calling from God.
Seeing Someone Preaching In The Dream
If you happened to see a dream about someone else preaching, in such dream, it is always important to try to get the message the preacher was trying to deliver.

God speaks to us in dreams; and He does that in various ways. I said that it is necessary to try grasping the message the preacher delivered in this dream, because that is very likely to be God directly speaking to the dreamer.
Preaching The Word Of God In A Dream
- If you are genuinely saved and filled with the Holy Spirit—and you constantly see yourself preaching the word of God in a dream—obviously, you have a powerful calling from God.
- Dreams about preaching often come to strengthen and assure the chosen that God will use them mightily to win souls, transform lives and bring many to maturity in Christ.
- If you are saved, but not yet in ministry—yet you keep seeing yourself preaching in a dream—this is still a good omen. I presume you already know your specific calling. If you don't know, go ahead and ask the Lord to reveal. Gain a proper understanding of the nature of your calling and ministry; then start working towards fulfilling it.
