The best way to prepare to cross over into 2023 is by consecration, sobriety, self-reflection, fasting and prayer. The same God who took you through 2022 is also able to take you into 2023. He hasn't changed yet.

Since the life that we live is not ours, by our own power we wouldn't be able to cross over into 2023. The Bible says that by strength shall no man prevail (1 Samuel 2:9). We have to rely on the One who has always been in charge of our safety and sustenance through all these years. 

The wise thing to do is to give God the right of way to cross over before us; to make smooth the way on our behalf and lead us safely by His hand into the new year.

It is easy to say that 2023 is a year of double portion, a year of possessing your possession and a year of a turnaround and all-round breakthrough. But it shouldn't just end there. 

Making positive declarations concerning a new year is not a bad thing. But we cannot afford to lose sight of the fact that while we are hoping and wishing for the best concerning our new year, the enemy is also plotting and scheming the worst against us. It is unwise to deny and ignore this fact.

So what does the wise and spiritually discerning do? They stay prayed up and always make sure they pray their way into a new year! 

Like it often happens, many will be caught up in the excitement that comes with anticipating a new year. In the course of all the celebrations and merriment, a good number of people (including Christians) often end up distracted, forgetting that the enemy never rests and that they are supposed to pray in all seasons.

The Bible admonishes us to be wise and not unwise (Matthew 10:16, Ephesians 5:15). We are expected to understand seasons and what Heaven expects of us in each of those seasons, so we can walk accordingly. 

This isn't me trying to deny the fact that God is already in charge of 2023, but we also should not ignore the fact that the enemy and his cohorts work tireless to ensure that many do not see a new year, or even if they happen to see it, they won't do so in a good state. May the plots and thoughts of the enemy against you and your family backfire, in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ!

It's no new news that many often lose their lives while celebrating a new year, but that shall not be your portion, in the Name of Jesus Christ!

Let us be as wise as God expects of us to be, and not ignorant of the devices of Satan (according to 2 Cor. 2:11).

Below are more specific reasons why you should pray your way into 2023:

1. To Know God's Plans And Will For You Concerning The New Year

The Lord doesn't want us to live in the dark concerning what we should do or shouldn't do in this new year. He wants us to have knowledge and direction. That is why He is willing to reveal to us His plans for us concerning the new year. By instructions, He is willing to guide and lead us; but if we don't pray, it would be difficult getting all these leadings and instructions from God.

It is true that almost everyone of you reading this article has one complaint or another against your government leader.

We must all admit that the government of this world is not perfect. While we look forward to the perfect government under the coming 1000 years reign of Christ on this same planet earth, we have to continue interceding for our imperfect government leaders.

In 1 Timothy 2:1-2, we are instructed to pray for our government leaders. Apparently, God endorses such prayers and expects us to obey this command in His Word.

6. Father, because all authority submits to You, I ask that You cause the government of this world to do only your bidding, and not that of the enemy, in the Name of Jesus Christ!

The current events of the world are all in line with Bible prophecy. Apparently, we are fast drawing close to the end of this age. But while the Church is still here, the Lord has promised to keep her safe. 

Truly, we are in the age of natural disasters, moral decadence, and all manner of mishaps, but that does not mean we should stop praying for the world. 

The Lord doesn't expect us to sit back and watch the enemy destroy the world together with us in it. The Church is the restraining force (together with the Holy Spirit), and through prayer, we have the ability to continue restraining the activities of darkness, till we are taken out from here.

The peace the Lord promised us is not the peace that provides succor for those who live in rebellion towards God. We automatically enter into this peace of God as we live in obedience to Him.
