Prayer To Be Baptized In The Holy Spirit

If you have been seeking to get baptized in the Holy Spirit, don't wait any longer. Go on and prayer this prayer to be baptized in the Holy Spirit.
In our previous lesson, we discussed the importance of the Holy Spirit. We saw that there are numerous reasons why we need the Holy Spirit. Today, we will bring you a prayer to be baptized in the Holy Spirit.

Prayer To Be Baptized In The Holy Spirit

Now that we've seen how important it is for us to have the Spirit of God living in us, I presume that you desire to be filled with the Holy Spirit. I also desire to stay full of the God's Spirit daily.

I believe that there are many of our blog readers who would love to receive the Holy Spirit. If you don't have the Holy Spirit just yet, then this article is for you. Don't hesitate to seize this opportunity to get baptized in the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 3:11 NIV
I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Concerning the Christians who were once filled with the Holy Spirit—but along the line, something happened, and they now feel spiritually empty; today's prayer is also for you.

I'll say that one of the best steps a Christian can take towards reconciling with God after backsliding, is to seek for a fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit.

Once filled doesn't mean always full of the Spirit. We all need more of the Spirit of God dialy. Even the most fireful Christian will eventually backslide, if they don't consistently make deliberate efforts to stay full of the Holy Spirit.

Steps To Receive The Holy Spirit

There are certain requirements for receiving the Holy Spirit. No one can just turn up and get the Holy Spirit through whatever means suitable to them.

Acts 8:18 NLT
When Simon saw that the Spirit was given when the apostles laid their hands on people, he offered them money to buy this power.

We've seen what transpired between the Apostles and Simon the sorcerer in the book of Acts. He wanted the Holy Spirit; he had the desire to be filled with the Holy Spirit. But his intentions and approach were wrong.

You can't get the Holy Spirit by going to a medium, sorcerer, a witch or sangoma. I can assure you that, whatever spirit these people claim they can give you, is not the Holy Spirit

That said, ensure that you fellow the right steps below to receive the Holy Spirit:

Step 1:- Believe In Jesus Christ

The Bible says that, no one can go to God to ask anything from Him, except through Jesus Christ (John 14:6). You have to believe that Jesus Christ came in the flesh, to give Himself as a ransom for man's sins.

Before anyone can receive the Holy Spirit, they have to acknowledge Jesus Christ as the only One who can blot out their sins and save their soul from eternal damnation.

Simon the sorcerer made the mistake of thinking he could keep his demons, and refuse to acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus Christ over him, but still receive the Holy Spirit

If you have been worshipping idols, you need to understand that you cannot receive the Holy Spirit if you are not willing to let go of those things.

According to Matthew 3:11, Jesus Christ is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit. So there is no one anyone can bypass Him to receive the Holy Spirit.

If you believe that Jesus is Lord; if you have acknowledged Him as your Lord and Saviour, then you are eligible to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Step 2:- Repent Of Your Sins

Genuine repentance is a prerequisite for receiving the Holy Spirit. No one can skip the step of genuinely repenting of their sins, and proceed to receive the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:38 BSB
Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

If you aren't yet a Christian, you should pray this salvation prayer or repentance prayer, before you ask God to baptise you in the Holy Spirit.

Even the Christians who backslid in their walk with the Lord and would want to return to Him, should first genuinely repent of their sins.

If you have any unconfessed sin in your life, now is the time to repent and turn to God for forgiveness, so that He will baptize and fill you with the Holy Spirit.

Step 3:- Ask Jesus To Baptize You In the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the promise of the Father (Luke 24:49), and the gift of God to everyone who believes in Jesus Christ.

The Bible says that, God honours His word more than His name (Psalm 138:2b). That invariably means that, if God makes a promise, He will not default on fulfilling it. He will give you the Holy Spirit when you ask Him.

Joel 2:28 ESV
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.

So long God had already promised in His word, and you've done all that's required of you to receive the Holy Spirit, you can be rest assured that God will fulfil His promise.

Having believed that God will answer your prayer, go ahead and ask Jesus Christ to baptise you in the Holy Spirit, just as John the Baptist spoke of Him.

Step 4:- Be Patient And Expectant

Genuine faith comes with patience. After asking the Lord to baptise you in the Holy Spirit, do not get impatient and give up, thinking that God won't answer.

Matthew 7:7-11 ESV
Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

Receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit is a supernatural experience; it may or may not happen instantly. You have to be patient and expectant. Keep asking and trusting the Lord to answer you in His perfect timing.

Final Thoughts On Prayer To Receive The Holy Spirit

I'll like to bring to your attention that, the baptism of the Holy Spirit is a personal experience. Being that way, the timing and manner in which it comes may differ for different individuals.

Some may receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit without the outward evhidence of speaking in tongues, while some may receive Him together with the gift of tongues.

My advice is that you do not relent in prayers. Even those who already have the Holy Spirit should pray daily to stay filled with more of Him. Stay persistent in prayers, seek God's presence, and trust Him to answer your prayer in His perfect timing.
