We all have loved ones and when they pass away, dreams about them being alive may start coming. But the enemy might also find a foothold here, if we are not careful.
The Bible says much about the deceased, but one thing stands out: neither Jesus, the prophets of old, nor the Apostles went about communicating with the dead.
I've never stumbled on any Bible verse that approves of communication with the dead. Instead of communicating with the dead, God has always been focused on raising the dead back to life.

In the story of King Saul and the witch of Endor, when Saul attempted to contact and speak with the spirit of the late prophet Samuel, notice that Saul didn't go through God, but through a “witch.”
The difference is clear. Saul understood that the Holy Spirit doesn't endorse and would not allow communication with the dead. So he had to go through an agent of darkness. Even though we may sometimes see dreams where the dead person we're talking to appears to be our late loved one, there is no valid means to verify that it is truly that person.
Like I earlier said, the devil is always swift to find a foothold and open doors into people's lives through such dreams. On several occasions, demons masquerade as dead relatives to give people instructions in their dreams. Unfortunately, some gullibly carryout those instructions and end up becoming the instruments and servants of the devil.
1. Speaking With The Dead Is Like Fortune Telling
Speaking with the dead (be it in dreams or in the physical) isn't different from witchcraft, divination and fortune telling. And the Bible is clearly against these things.
Deuteronomy 18:10 ESVThere shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer.
I've heard of certain Christians who claim that they have been having encounters with the spirits of dead prophets in the Bible. It's obvious that even some Christians are practicing sorcery without knowing. As Christians, we must understand that not all spiritual experiences are of God. There are things we should desist from, knowing that they can cost us our salvation.
Does God Speak To Us Through Dead Relatives?
We are the prophetic generation and there are very many ways God speaks to us. Understand that God is not in lack of channels through which He can communicate with us.
The prophecy that was spoken through the mouth of prophet Joel concerning the end times is very much active in our days.
Joel 2:28 NIVAnd afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.
As you can see, there are very many and better avenues through which God can communicate with us. There are prophetic dreams, prophecies, visions, the still small voice, etc. Dreams of a dead person talking to you is not and can never be a prophetic dream.
If God wants to speak to anyone in a dream, He would rather prefer to use His voice or the image of someone alive, not a dead person—for He is God of the living, and not the dead (Mark 12:27).
Every true Christian has the ability to hear God's voice. It can even be learned and mastered. We shouldn't stoop so low to depend on speaking with the dead.
We should therefore desire not to speak with the dead (whether asleep or awake). To rebuke such dreams is to be on the safe side.
Seeing Dead Person Alive In Dream Meaning
Sometimes, we may happen to see a dead person alive in our dreams, but we shouldn't be quick to conclude that it is truly that person we saw.
I know that man is a spirit being and everything is literally possible. But let's also not forget that there is so much deception—especially in the end times. Time is short and Satan is desperately employing every viable means to win souls into Hell.
Demons are fond of masquerading as deceased loved ones to visit and manipulate people through dreams. We must be discerning and very careful in these last days, so that we don't end up deceived by dreams of demons claiming to be our deceased loved ones.
- A dream of late relatives is a favourite tool for familiar spirits to get in touch with people, give them ungodly instructions, send them on erands and end up controlling their lives.
- The spirit of death is also likely to occasionally take the form of dead relatives to meet people in their dreams. Such dreams must be rebuked and every connection with the spirit of death cut off.
- Dreams where one has constant communication with their dead relatives should be rebuked, prayed against and cancelled.
If you are constantly seeing your late loved ones in dreams, do not let it continue. Such dreams can be spiritually harmful. Pray and rebuke whoever it is that is appearing to you in your dreams. Let them know that you don't want to see them anymore!
Once you start praying against such dreams, you may be surprised to see the demon manifest their true form, and start attacking you because you don't want to communicate with them anymore. If this happens, keep praying and do not fear. See it as a confirmation of what I've been saying here so far.

A dream of seeing an unknown dead person is clearly not a good omen. There are people who see different dreams of unknown dead people; either fighting them or trying to communicate with them. These dreams confirm the presence of demonic activities around and against the dreamer.
Sometimes, a dream of unknown dead person could be the spirit of death assigned against the dreamer. If you keep seeing an unknown person attacking you in dreams, understand this is what it means. There is death sentence spoken against the dreamer. You can use these prayers against death.

- By the blood of Jesus Christ, I cancel every death sentence spoken against me and my family. It shall not be successfully executed, in the Name of Jesus Christ!
- Powers of darkness working any form of manipulation against me through dreams of deceased loved ones, be arrested now, in the Name of Jesus Christ!
- Every demonic spirit of divination working manipulation against me in my dreams, be arrested now, in the Name of Jesus Christ!
- I place a spiritual barrier by the Holy Spirit, between me and familiar spirits trying to establish contact with me, in the Name of Jesus Christ!
