What It Means To Be Sold Out For Jesus

What does it mean to be sold out to Jesus, why should we be sold out to Christ and how can we go about it? Let's learn in today's teaching.
Sold Out For Jesus
It is easier to profess Christianity than to actually be a Christian. Being a Christian simply means being Christ-like. Christianity is all about Jesus. When we give our life to Christ, it means we are willing to give Him everything.

The walk of faith is a walk with Jesus Christ; and there are diverse levels to this walk. While some choose to end at being identified with a particular preacher and denomination, we should not stop just at that.

Walking with God goes beyond being a follower of man and a member of a denomination. We should not stop at being good Christians who don't miss church services. There are higher levels of relationship with God—and that includes being sold out to Christ.

Meaning of Being Sold Out To Jesus

To be sold out to Jesus means to be completely submitted to Him. All that we are and have must be laid down at His feet. If we say we are sold out to Christ, we are literally saying that our body, soul and spirit has been completely submitted to Him. Being sold out to Christ is costly. We must be willing to surrender all to Him—give Him everything and withhold nothing.

Why We Should Be Sold Out To Jesus

"You have been bought with a price," I believe that's enough reason to be sold out to Christ. When you purchase a product, not parts of it but all of it is completely yours. We are Christ's.

1 Corinthians 6:20 KJV
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Jesus Christ was sold out for our sake. He robbed Himself of the glory He once had in Heaven, then took upon Him the likeness of man to pay the price for our sins.

Philippians 2:7-8 KJV
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: [8] And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

He humbled Himself to the point of giving Himself to be wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities (Isaiah 53:5)—even by the humans He created. That is already too much price paid for the wrongs of another person.

The Lord was sold out for our sake, but... are we sold out to Him as well?

How To Be Sold Out To Jesus

Below, you will find steps a Christian should take in order to become sold out to God.

1. Our will must be submitted to Him—to get replaced with His will.

The natural man wants to do what he feels like doing at any given time. He does not like being told what to do or being told to do right. To submit our will to God means that we are willing to stop living according to our self-will but only according to His will. It means that we are willing to do only that which pleases Him.

2. Like Apostle Paul, we must be Crucified With Christ.

When Apostle penned down Galatians 2:20, he was at a level in his walk with the Lord, where he could boldly say that he was sold out to Jesus—"I am crucified with Christ"!

Galatians 2:20 KJV
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Paul was totally aligned with God and the will of God; he was dead to self, flesh, ambitions and self-will, to the extent his life could only be found in Christ.

3. Forsake The Things Of This World

Friendship with the world is enmity with God (James 4:4). When a bride is betrothed to her groom, she belongs to him. She cannot be shared with other men.

Galatians 6:14 KJV
But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

Same thing applies to being in Christ. If we seek a higher relationship with God, we must forsake the ways of this present world.
