He That Is Born Of God Cannot Sin

He that is born of God cannot sin, says the holy scriptures. Let's learn how to lay hold of this victory over sin.
He That Is Born Of God Cannot Sin

Scripture

1 John 5:18 KJV
We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

God's Mind Today

Our Lord Jesus showed us a great example during His temptation in wilderness. Apart from the fact that he was able to put off the enemy by countering his lies with scriptures, Jesus was untouchable.

Considering how furious the devil must had been after Jesus turned down his offers, he would had attempted to harm Him before leaving.

Remember that this is the same Jesus that Satan chased after, to kill through Herod while he was still infant. Mary and Joseph had to flee to Egypt with the infant Messiah.

But here in the wilderness, Satan had come face to face with Jesus and couldn't do a thing.

What made the difference? Obedience

The Lord repeatedly made it clear throughout scriptures that He obeyed the Father completely. He had no life of His own, but lived to please the Father. A good example is this scripture:

John 8:29 KJV
And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.

Do you think that if Jesus had lived in disobedience towards the Father while He walked the earth, He would had been safe, talkless of being successful in ministry? I honestly don't think so! He was in the enemy's domain, and it was easy to get harmed.

If the Lord had accepted the devil's offer and sinned against the Father, we don't want to imagine what would had happened afterwards.

Jesus demonstrated that obedience guarantees safety. We don't need to pray every now and then asking for God's protection. We only need to obey Him.

The devil could not touch Job because the Bible tells us that Job walked blamelessly before God and that put God's hedge of protection around him.

Sin is the enemy's property. If we keep his belonging in our possession, it opens the door for him to come in and do whatever he wants.

Key Point

Our safety is in our obedience to God. Most times, bad things happen to good people because their life is not right with God. If we live in obedience to God, the enemy cannot gate-crash. When we walk blamelessly before God, the enemy cannot come over to do what he wants to us whenever he wants.

Psalm 34:7 (NIV)
The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.

Prayer

Father I thank You for revealing to me today another dimension of the essence of living in obedience to you. Enable and empower me to walk in total submission and obedience towards You from this day onwards, in Jesus Name I ask. Amen.
