1. Desire To Know God For Yourself
No one ever discovers God's purpose for their life without first of all, finding God. The Almighty is the revealer of secrets. He is our Creator and Father. He is the Author of your destiny. He knows our life right from its beginning to its end.

God made you with a purpose. And to discover that purpose, you must go to Him.
The solution to man's search for the purpose of his existence is finding God. We cannot bypass the Author of our destiny, to discover and walk in our purpose.
2. Submit Completely To God
As much as we are willing to know God's purpose for our life, we should be willing to submit to Him. God is our Source. Everything we need—from discovering our purpose to fulfilling the same, is in Him.
Our striving cannot help us. God never sent anyone on earth to try out different things; to see which one would work for them.
Many people are trying out different things to see which one works. This is an act of confusion. This is not God's will for your life, and it is definitely not the right way to discover one's purpose.
The first step to discovering God's purpose for us is sincerely accepting Jesus Christ into our life as our personal Lord and Saviour. If you are yet to do this, pray this simple prayer with faith:

The original intention in God's mind, when He created man was relationship. This is the will of God for us. God did not make man in His likeness and image, just so that man would exist independent of Him.
God made man so that man would know Him, worship Him and follow Him.

Therefore, it is error for man to live apart from His Maker! Life becomes very difficult than it should be, when man strives to discover his purpose and make it in life without God.
1. Be A God Chaser
As much as we strive to know and walk in our divine purpose, the same energy should be exerted towards our pursuit for God. This is wisdom—for we cannot become anything without our Source (John 15:5).
Man's purpose lies hidden in God until he begins chasing after God and eventually discovers it.

And someone might ask, "why must it be so?" Because God is not cheap. And your purpose isn't cheap either.
We should be willing to chase after God, because only God-chasers can discover and walk in God's purpose for their life.
2. Ask God To Speak To Your Concerning Your Purpose
He may choose not to say it through a Prophet. Most times, the Lord prefers communicating our purpose directly to us. This is why I lay greater emphasis on chasing after God.
In the course of our chasing after Him, we are transformed and enabled to hear His voice. And along the line, He does not fail to communicate to us His purpose concerning our life.
It's all practical. One must put these into practice, if they are serious about discovering God's purpose for their life.
3. Every Christian Can Hear God's Voice
Chasing after God opens us up to the things of the Spirit. Spiritual abilities get activated (including ability to hear God's voice).
John 10:27 KJVMy sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
Every genuine Christian can hear God's voice for themselves. The problem is that, not many are chasing after God.
The Lord also makes room for us to ask Him questions. You can ask Him about your purpose in life and He will reveal it to you (He is willing). But this cannot happen if we are not actively chasing after Him.
Jeremiah 33:3 NIVCall to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.'
4. Seek Him With Diligence
Chasing after God cannot be done carelessly, if we expect to see the desired results. The Lord Himself instructed us to seek Him with diligence.
Hebrews 11:6 KJVBut without faith it is impossible to please him : for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Pay close attention to details. Give your best towards seeking Him. Seek Him in His Word and through faith-filled prayers. When all of these are in place, God will not fail to do His part, by revealing your purpose to you (and many other things you never thought you could know).
