The major reason why the Father sent the Son to serve as a ransom for man's sins, was to reconcile the world back to Himself.
Sin separated man from God, but Jesus came and paid the price for our sins (Romans 5:8)—to reestablish that connection that man lost with God through Adam.
When Jesus breathed His last on the Cross of calvary, the parting of the temple's curtain (Matthew 27:51) from the top to bottom signified that man's access to the Father had been restored.
We all can now go boldly to the throne of Grace, to commune with God and have a closer walk with Him.
Christianity is a love relationship with God through Jesus Christ. It was for this very purpose that man was created. We exist to love God, because He first loved us. It is not an option, it is a command.

Intimacy (in this context) means close affinity; a close familiarity or friendship with God. Many are saved, but not many have a close friendship or familiarity with God.
Intimacy with God is a higher relationship with God. We can gain intimacy with God only through Jesus Christ, because without Him we cannot have access to the Father (John 14:6).

It always happens that those who have a closer walk with God always have access to a dimension of blessings that the average Christian cannot access.
2. God's Covering
Intimacy with God attracts an higher degree of God's protection upon an individual. God does not joke with those who take Him serious. He assigns them His angels and makes sure they are super-protected.
3. Constant Fellowship or Communion With God
Intimacy with God restores to man, that dimension of communion and fellowship with God that Adam experienced in the garden of Eden. Hearing God's voice and holding conversations with God was a normalcy for Adam. Jesus is closer to those who have an intimate relationship with Him. They deserve it.
4. Supernatural Breakthroughs And Success
There is a higher dimension of breakthrough and success that we all can access via intimacy with God.
Sometimes, some challenges don't require much prayers and fasting. They require that we have a closer walk with God.
With a higher relationship with Jesus Christ, mountains disappear. Challenges don't stand those who have a close affinity with God.
Keys To Intimacy With God
How do I build an intimate relationship with God? I'm sure someone here desires to have an intimate relationship with Jesus. It is surely a good thing that we desire to have such an amazing walk with God. Let's see how to go about it below.
1. Abide In Christ

2. Obey God's Word
Living in obedience to God has always pleased God and will always do. Obedience draws us closer to God and draws Him closer to us. It cannot be substituted for anything.

3. Love The Holy Spirit and Keep His Temple Holy
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ (2 Corinthians 3:17). Jesus works and communes with us through the Holy Spirit.
Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. We must keep His temple holy, because this pleases Him. Since the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ, pleasing Him means directly pleasing Jesus Christ Himself!
No one can have an intimate relationship with Jesus while they constantly desecrate the temple of the Holy Spirit.

- Thank You Father for making known to me today, that your major purpose for saving me is to have an intimate walk with You. Thank Father for this revelation that You have granted me today. Amen.
- Lord Jesus, I desire to have a closer walk with You. For You said in your Word that if I draw near to You, that You will draw near to me (James 4:8). As I make deliberate efforts to draw close to You, Lord Jesus I ask that You draw me even closer to You. Amen.
- Holy Spirit of Christ, I desire to live a consecrated life. I desire to keep your temple holy. Enable me to do just this in Jesus Name. Amen.
