Prayer for Protection Against Dream Attacks & Oppressors
If you are repeatedly oppressed by the kingdom of darkness in your sleep, follow this guide and pray these prayers each night before you sleep.
If you think about it carefully, you will observe this truth: the enemy would have little to no influence over people's lives and destinies if sleeping did not exist. The Bible tells us that while men sleep, the enemy sneaks in to sow tares among the wheat and departs unnoticed (Matthew 13:25).
The dream world is a realm of the soul. When man sleeps, the body... already exhausted from the day's activities... falls into deep slumber. The body rests, and unless the soul is repeatedly trained, cleansed, and energized by the Spirit of God, it may find itself in trouble. And truth be told, that's often the case.
Dream manipulation is a tactic the enemy uses to oppress the souls of men in their sleep. The fact that man sleeps seems to give the enemy an edge.
One might be tempted to ask: “But why did God create sleep and dreaming?”
Man's body is weak by default. After a long day, the body needs proper and adequate rest—and that happens mostly during sleep. As for dreaming, the Scriptures reveal how God communicates and guides man through dreams:
“Indeed, God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it. He speaks in dreams, in visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they lie in their beds.” - Job 33:14–15
So, God uses dreaming for His good purposes in man’s life, but the enemy is an opportunist. He’s always looking for a loophole—the smallest opening through which he can access a person's life and do harm.
But God has not only provided us with tools and resources to resist the enemy while awake, He has also given us wisdom to curtail, to a great extent, the harmful works of darkness against our lives while we sleep.
Truth be told: not many people are powerful in their dreams. Some end up helpless and become mere spectators—watching without any control over what the enemy does to them in dreams. As a Christian, this is not God's will for your life.
How To Properly Protect Yourself Before Going To Bed
Since the enemy sees sleep and dreaming as opportunities to oppress God’s people, we also must be proactive in doing what’s necessary to restrain him. God has not left us without help.
Strengthen And Energize The Soul While Awake
There is a reason why both God and the devil are interested in the souls of men. The soul of a man is the real man. The body only houses the soul—enabling it to communicate with the physical aspects of the earth realm.
The soul must be cared for, just as we care for our bodies. The mistake many still make is focusing solely on cleaning, feeding, and adorning the body—while neglecting the soul and leaving it to starve.
“But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the power of the Holy Spirit.” - Jude 1:20
The writer of the book of Jude gave us a vital insight here:
“Build yourself up...”
That’s not a physical kind of building. It’s not about eating and filling the body with food. It’s about positioning and aligning the true man (the soul) to be energized.
Then the writer mentions a method: by praying in the Holy Spirit (praying in tongues).
That’s the truth right there! Praying in the Spirit while awake energizes and strengthens the soul, so that it can withstand and resist the enemy when the body falls asleep.
Praying in tongues is just one way the human soul can be energized and strengthened while awake. Add that to immersing yourself in God’s Word daily, and your private time of worship.
Overall, our daily fellowship with God enables us to draw strength from Him into our souls—lighting them up with His holy fire, purging impurities, and fortifying them to be used of God and to resist the enemy.
You see, even the Bible reveals that witches and warlocks do not allow their days to pass by without preparing for night-time attacks:
“Woe to those who plan evil, lying awake in bed plotting mischief! When morning comes, they do it, simply because they can.” - Micah 2:1
And as Scripture says in Luke 16:8, are the sons of this world more shrewd than the sons of light? We, the sons of God, must proactively beat them to their evil wisdom.
We too must be intentional about prioritizing our daily fellowship with God—if we truly want to maintain the upper hand against the enemy and his devices while we sleep.
Protection Prayer Against Dream Oppressors
- Dear Lord Jesus, I commit my entire self into Your hands as I sleep tonight. Let me dwell in safety—under Your mighty hand, may I find absolute protection.
- As I lay down to sleep, dear Holy Spirit, I ask You to fill my room, my sleeping space, and my apartment. Let Your presence repel every attempted attack of darkness against me tonight.
- Dear Holy Spirit, saturate my sleeping space with Your fire. Form a pillar of fire around me. Let it repel the attacks and manipulations of the enemy, as I lay down to rest tonight.
- Dear Heavenly Father, I ask that You assign warrior angels to guard my sleeping space tonight and protect me against all attacks of the enemy.
- Holy Spirit of God, empower my soul to resist the enemy’s attacks and rebel against his manipulations in my dreams tonight.
- Dear Holy Spirit, activate consciousness in my soul as I sleep. Let me not be passive while the enemy tries to have his way. Enable me to recognize his dream manipulations and resist them by Your power.
- I declare that I shall not be a victim of dream oppression tonight.
- Every witchcraft spell meant to hypnotize and weaken my soul in sleep shall have no effect on me, in the name of Jesus Christ!
- I receive power to confront every dream oppressor, to frustrate and overpower them, in the name of Jesus Christ.
- I immerse myself and my sleeping space in the blood of Jesus Christ. Every attempt of the enemy against my life tonight shall fail!
- By the power of God, I break the cycle of repeated dream oppression off my life!
- Warrior angels of God, attack and arrest every demonic dream oppressor assigned against me tonight.
- By the power of God, I come against and destroy every form of spiritual weakness in my dreams.
- I receive the Spirit’s strengthening in my soul. I shall no longer be a weakling in my dreams.
- Dear Lord, the battle is Yours. Fight for me and through me tonight.
- Instead of being oppressed in my dreams, I shall become the oppressor over my enemies from now onward. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ!
