Seeking God First: Seek Ye The Kingdom Of God First Sermon
The Lord has given us the formula for receiving from Him in His Word. Let's see how to seek first the kingdom of God in today's devotion.
In the Bible we are instructed to seek first the kine of God and His righteousness. But how do we go about this? Let's learn in today's devotional.
Seek God First Verse
Matthew 6:33 KJVBut seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Seek Ye The Kingdom of God First
This is one scripture that is so common in many Christian circles. It is memorised in sunday schools and recited as a poem. Yet, not many are applying it to their life.
The world believes in striving. People would rather chase after material wealth than seek God. In the course of pursuing their dreams, many are pursing it wrongly. Some get to the extent that their pursuit takes them out of the will of God.
Yet, our Lord Jesus gave us a simple formula to getting all we need for sustainance in this present world: Seek Me First!
It is okay to work for the things we need; the Bible endorses it. God hates slothfulness. But our pursuit for the things of this world must not supersede our pursuit for God.
Even with all our toiling, if God decides to withhold His blessings from us, there is no way our toiling would be productive. We would be helpless.
Matthew 6:25 KJVTherefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
God is willing to provide our needs. But are we willing to use His formula?
Many people come to God seeking what is in His hands, not His face nor His heart. The Lord said, "Seek first my kingdom and righteousness". He never said, "Come to me asking for cars, cloths and mansions."
God already knows the things we need. But He will not satisfy our greed. It is for the purpose of greed that people are willing to step out of the path of God to garner riches. The principles for receiving from God is given in His Word.
Key Point
The Lord will always provide our needs if we learn to make the main thing, the main thing. We must seek His face. We must desire for the closest possible walk with Him. We must fix our gaze on Him and not on what He can do for us. Then He will handle the rest.

Prayer
Thank You Father for reminding me once again about the things that I'm supposed to make a priority in my life. Enable me to love You more than any other thing. Help me to focus on You and Your kingdom, trusting that You will make provision for all I needed for substance in this world. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
